It is our sincere endeavour to let the world know the significance, elegance and magnificence of Jaggannathota Prabhas festival which has been celebrated from the generations immemorial in the midest of Konaseema.
Jaggannathota Prabhas Festival is the most famous, historical, and one of the ancient festivals, which can be held in Kanuma Day (3rd day) of Sankranthi Festival. It is the 1st festival and started earlier than other Prabhas festivals.
Jaggannathota is a small hamlet in Mosalapalli village of Ambajipeta Mandal, Konaseema Region of East Godavari District, A.P. Jaggannathota is called as “Location of Ekadasa Rudras” (11 forms of Lord Shiva). Jaggannathota is a coconut garden with full of coconut trees. It is the only place where Ekdasa Rudras turn up themselves at one place.
“In 17th century on the day of Kanuma (3rd Day) of Sankranthi Festival by name “Ekadasa Rudras” (11 forms of Lord Shiva) met at Jaggannathota for World Peace & Happiness and discussed among themselves about the weal & woes of the people in the world and that they blessed the world with happiness & success. Since then on the Kanuma Day the people of these 11 villages where the “Ekadasa Rudras” are situated conducting the Prabha festival at Jaggannathota. Long ago Sri Vatsavayi Jagannatha Maharaja (Jagganna), Royal heir of Peddapuram visited the Jaggannathota Prabha festival and offered prayed to the Ekadasa Rudras. He contributed his level best to elevate the grandeur of the celebration. From that time onwards this place is called by his name “Jagganna”thota.”
On Kanuma Day the “Ekadasa Rudras” Gangalakurru Agraharam -Sri Veereswara Swamy, Gangalakurru - Sri Chenna Malleswara Swamy, Vyagreswaram - Sri Vyagreswara Swamy, K.Pedapudi - Sri Menakeswara Swamy, Pulletikurru - Sri Abhinava Vyagreswara Swamy, Irusumanda - Sri Ananda Rameswara Swamy, Mukkamala - Sri Raghaveswara Swamy, Nedunuru - Sri Chenna Malleswara Swamy, Vakkalanka - Sri Kasi Visweswara Swamy, Mosalapalli - Sri Madhumananta Bhogeswara Swamy, Palagummi - Sri Chenna Malleswara Swamy are carried on Prabhas which are decorated with colour papers, flowers, colour clothes and with classical music to Jaggannathota. The Prabhas are considered replicas of Ekadasa Rudras (11 forms of Lord Shiva) and the one from Vyagreswaram is considered as Chief, the Prabha from Mosalapalli is considered as host. All other Prabhulu, are raised high when the Prabha from Vyagreswaram enters Jaggannathota. The Prabhas from Gangalakurru Agraharam-Sri Veereswara Swamy and Gangalakurru-Sri Chenna Malleswara Swamy are carried through paddy fields and finally crosses the Kowsika (River) by the devotees.
The famous and unique event that attract and enchant huge number of people is the entry of the Prabha of Gangalakurru Agraharam-Sri Veereswara Swamy. The Prabha of Gangalakurru Agraharam attends Jaggannathota as final Prabha in the evening by crossing Kowsika (River). The Prabhas have been already carried to Jaggannathota will wait for Prabha of Gangalakurru Agraharam. It is the feast to the eyes when Prabha crossing the river. While Prabha crossing the river all the people who attend the festival will come and watch by standing on the banks of the river. People feel very happy by watching Prabha crossing the river, they fell that it is most memorable moment in their lives.
While carrying Prabha from the paddy fields crop will be damaged. But the owners of paddy fields felt very happy even though their fields were damaged. They felt that carrying of Lord from their fields is their Luck, the god bless their families and they will lead happy life.
People of various places of Andhra Pradesh and the people of this area who are settled in the country & abroad will attend the festival every year. Lakhs of people will attend the Jaggannathota festival.
